What Is UD Woven Tape?
UD woven tape is a narrow, flexible reinforcement material where fibers are aligned in one direction—typically in the warp—while the weft (cross fibers) is only there to hold the structure together. This results in a tape that provides maximum strength and stiffness along one axis, making it ideal for reinforcing critical load paths, edge strengthening, or layering in specific directions within a laminate. Unlike biaxial or triaxial braids, which distribute loads across multiple directions, UD woven tape concentrates strength along a single axis—making it ideal for direct load paths and simplified laminate designs.
